Katie Brandt, MMDirector of Caregiver Support Services and Public Relations

Katie Brandt is the Director of Caregiver Support Services and Public Relations for the Frontotemporal Disorders Unit. Through this role she supports families at every stage of life lived with dementia, informing clinical care that is person-centered.  Katie is known as a dementia care expert, powerful public speaker and educator in the healthcare and research space. With over a decade of experience running caregiver support groups, Katie is able to incorporate diverse perspectives into her advocacy work on local, state and national platforms.

From 2017 – 2021, Katie was a member, and then Co-Chair, of the National Alzheimer’s Project Act Advisory Council on Alzheimer’s Research Care and Services where she shined a spotlight on the lived experience of caregivers and families experiencing young-onset dementias. Katie is also the Director of the ALLFTD Participant and Family Engagement Board, helping research participants raise their voices to enhance research protocols with the participant perspective in mind. Her ongoing work with families inspires her hope that the cure of tomorrow is not so far from the care of today for FTD, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
